This has been the year of babies! January opened with Karlie’s naming and blessing on January 3rd. Karlie is Stephen and Sherry’s first daughter and fifth child.
We had a blast taking Holly and Skott to St George for a mini vacation. We planned lots of fun activities like hiking in Snow Canyon, touring St. George and Brigham Young’s home, Jacob Hamblin’s home, the Tabernacle, the Temple Visitor’s Center, Ancestor Square and eating breakfast at the Bear Paw Coffee Company. What we didn’t plan was a storm that knocked over Holly and Skott’s tent. Holly took flight to our RV and when we went to check on Skott, we found him laying under a collapsed tent. Holly asked, “Skott, are you alive!”
Candy and Bob ran away to Utah’s San Rafael over Memorial Day. It was a last minute decision, but we finally found a room at Gilly’s in a tiny Utah town. The center section of I-70 knocked our eyes out. That must be the most spectacular stretch of interstate in the country. We also did a lot of back country roads.
Gayla and Candy met the required hours for charter school, John Hancock by going to centers on Friday’s in Timothy’s kindergarten class. Mrs. Orton is a great kindergarten teacher.
Candy’s brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Karen came out for a 3 week visit in July. We went to Temple Square in Salt Lake City and also toured Welfare Sqaure. Then we four went to Moab. We took a boat tour up the Colorado river, flew over Canyonlands National Park, and hiked Arches National Park. We had dinner by the river at the Red Cliffs Resort and visited the movie museum there. Robert even had his picture taken with John Wayne. Our home base was a lovely condominium. Robert and Karen took off for Yellowstone via Idaho Falls. Before leaving Utah, Robert and Karen bought Candy a GPS. Boy, has that been a hit! Bob and I love going to a new town, hitting the recreation button, and letting the GPS be our guide to delightful new locations! Try it!
We held our family reunion at the Muhlestein cabin in July. They call it a cabin, but it is really a large lodge. What a great place to gather. The grandkids had a ball! We enjoyed the Pioneer Day parade in Monticello. We celebrated Ally and Gavin’s birthday there at the cabin. Those Muhlesteins are the most generous people. And Dennis did a great job hosting us there, taking care of the generator, and everything else that needed tending.
On September 8th I was the guest on the “Glenda, the Good Nurse” alternative health show. We had a great time talking about the many benefits of hospice and near death experiences.
In September Gayla and Dennis had their 6th baby, George Bryant Muhlestein. Grandma was present at the birth. What a beautiful baby boy!
Holly and Skott announced this year that they are expecting their first – a new little girl! We are sure that she will be as adorable as Ally and Karlie. We can’t wait to meet her this December.
Throw in a campout at Cherry Hill Water Park and one at Willow Park, lots of family home evening dinners with the whole family, temple date nights every month with Grandma and Pappy doing the babysitting, and you have a very eventful year.
Candy’s plans for the rest of the year include continuing to support the tea party movement, piano lessons for grandkids, and learning to speak and hopefully understand Spanish. We have so many great neighbors who speak Spanish. I want to learn that beautiful language. If any of you know some good learning techniques, pass them to me.
Tea Party Time – I can’t end without mentioning the marvelous Tea Party movement to return honor to Washington. As Glenn Beck say so very well, “Faith, Hope, and Charity.” That’s what our country needs! Bob and I pray everyday for our country and for great citizens like you! God bless us, everyone!
There's a variety of things to visit here at www.KinserFamily.org. On this page you'll find Candy's Corner which is all about Grandma Candy's time with the grandkids and other experiences. You'll also find links to other sites including Stephen's family photos at Kinsers.org and The Muhlesteins as well as information about past and future family events. The Photos page contains snapshots of the most recent family events. For family history buffs, there's Holly's Hutch with information about four different lines of family history. There's also Bob's Page with "Funny Stuff" as well as "About my faith". All in all there's much to browse and see when you have nothing else to do.
